Nelson Forktrucks Limited is a 100% Nelson owned and operated company.
Directors Kim Murdoch and Colleen Bradley started the business back in December 1993, over 25 years ago, working from home with one service van. Now we have a team of people working with us from our Office at 10 Cargill Place Richmond. We are Head Office and can be really flexible when it comes to our client’s needs – and decisions can be made quickly – we don’t need to talk to anyone else.
We moved into Head Office premises in Cargill Place in Richmond in 1996. This base is central to support the range of industry we have in our Nelson area, horticulture, timber and fishing. Here we have a full workshop and steam cleaning facility. We also have space for an extensive range of parts for all makes and models of forklifts. There is also our display yard for demonstration of our forklifts and our offices.
Over the years we have seen many changes, in staff and in products/agencies. Nelson Forktrucks Ltd now operate independently and specialise in our local area – Top of the South – so we do extend to Golden Bay, West Coast and Marlborough regularly. We do also travel outside these areas as the need/contracts arise. More recently have extended to regular trips to Canterbury too.
We specialise in FORKLIFTS and everything to do with FORKLIFTS – we lease – short and long term, sell – new and used machines - engine powered diesel and petrol/LPG FORKLIFTS and Electric FORKLIFTS. We carry out a range of services/planned maintenance, carry out on- site WOF’s and Safe Equipment Compliance Inpsections, sell parts and stock a range of backup products ie forks, seats, tyres etc. Your one stop FORKLIFT shop. If we don’t have what you need – we can generally have it there the next day.
We’ll come to you - we have five mobile service vehicles set up to visit you at your premises and carry out most repairs, planned maintenance and on-site WOF’s Inspections. For the bigger jobs we have a fully equipped workshop and can arrange to have your machine transported to us for repair.

Is supporting a locally NZ owned and operated business important to you?
For us it is. To us it not only means that we were born here, we choose to live here and we support the local community, it also means to us that as the business owners we spend our profits locally at other local businesses. We like to support those that support us and so actively look to create reciprocal business opportunities. We also support our local community, individuals and groups regularly.
